I am comfortable at home.  Here I can be myself.  I have made it my own, adding little pieces of myself through decorations and design.  My belongings might be out of place in someone else’s house, but here they fit the intricate story of my life, betraying my desires and pastimes.  The world is big and difficult, but home is cozy and safe and exactly as I want it.  This is my palace, my fortress, my private space.  I am never more true to myself than when I am here.  At home I am the real me.  And this is what it’s like to be AtHomeWithMe.

Welcome to my project. No makeup, no retouching, no studio lighting – a personal project by Mark Fitzgerald

Shot in each subject’s own home, they are instructed to leave the house as it is.  No cleaning up, no modification.  No new clothes, no makeup or preparation in any way.  By this method we get a snapshot of the subject as they are in the space they feel most comfortable.  This can reveal quirks, habits and hobbies, and can allow an audience to gather information to begin to piece together the story of the subject’s life and personality.

One thing seems true for all subjects: there is strength and beauty in this visual honesty.
